Michelle – Everybody Cut Footloose
Today was the official last day of the competition. We woke up early to go to the awards ceremony. We were all fortunate enough to get medals, and we even got to do our footloose dance at the end of the awards ceremony.27
After taking pictures together after the ceremony, we headed to the dorms to rest, and then we went to the main building for lunch (which was delicious, again). I have really been enjoying the eggplant that we’ve had for the past few days, and today was no different.
We then had a brief moment of rest before meeting to leave for the Great Wall. During the drive to the Great Wall, I was astounded by the change in scenery from the university campus to the surrounding areas. We chose to walk up the footpaths to the Wall and take a tram down. At first, this choice seemed like a huge mistake, as we were panting and sweating the entire way up the Great Wall. Once we reached the wall itself, the scenery and architecture blew me away.
I’ve been once before, but each time I come to the Great Wall, I’m still amazed. The tram on the way down was quick, and we got a great view of the surrounding greenery.
Once we returned to the UCAS campus, we had our last dinner at the main hall. We invited our Chinese student translators to our table. At the end of our meal, we each gave Serena, Tracy, and David the gifts that we brought them from home. They were so surprised and even apologized for not having gifts for us, and we explained that our gifts weren’t even enough to thank them for all of their help over the past few days.
