Marti – Team USA 🇺🇸 wins first place at the Beijing Youth Science Creative Competition!

Team USA 🇺🇸 wins first place at the Beijing Youth Science Creative Competition!  What a way to celebrate science with an awards show like the Emmys or Olympics. And after a win we had a fabulous meeting and lunch the next day at the US Embassy with the head of the National Science Foundation Dr. Nancy Sung.  The students got to share their findings from their individual research and I got to talk about GSK Science in the Summer and Caroline Sullivan talked about NCBCE.
As an American, getting the opportunity to visit an Embassy in another country brought an incredible amount of pride and patriotism to me. There were hundreds of people lined up in rows waiting to get into the US Embassy to get a visa to come to our beautiful country where opportunities abound. Seeing The Stars and Stripes  fly above the Embassy was a tie to the land of the free and to a country I love.
The Embassy itself an impressive structure with eye catching art and peaceful courtyards.
This trip is one that I will remember forever and sharing the importance of STEM and learning how other countries teach and use science has been priceless.
