Robin – Update from Beijing
March 23
Fran and I met the other members of the US Delegation after their arrival to the Detroit Airport. Everyone took care of last minute needs (getting something to eat, seat assignments, etc.) before boarding the plane. Long flight ahead…will try to be as rested as possible when we get to the other side.

We’re here…the plane landed about 3:20 pm. Everone did a great job making it through the long flight. After picking up our luggage and going through customs, the student interpreters welcomed us before taking us to the conference hotel … about an hour from the airport to the hotel. They will get us checked in and ready for the event. Posters will go up tomorrow morning. Time change and most are ready to get to be bed in preparation for the big day.
March 25
Up early (couldn’t sleep) and met other members of the team for breakfast. Everyone business dress…Students off to display/present their research, Marti off to judge her group of students, and Caroline, Fran and I were involved in the teacher symposium. At the symposium, we were provided with headphone and the science presentations were translated for us. All back for lunch…more judging and a visit to the film base of Huairou before dinner. Tonight is the welcome dinner for foreign guests. BAST stresses collaboration and innovative science at the start of the BYSCC. Long day for students and adults. Hope to get some sleep.
