This morning, I couldn’t believe the last day of the competition was already here. We ate a quick breakfast and then went to the awards and closing ceremony that was held in the school’s auditorium. They had varying levels of prizes for the Chinese students. Ten students won the top prize of receiving automatic admission and a full scholarship to Beijing University. For the international students, there were two levels of awards, a silver medal and a gold medal. All four students from the U.S. received the highest award of the gold medal. I think we were all very pleased with our accomplishment.
From here we went to the exhibition hall to take down our posters and American flag. We packed all of our supplies up and then had a quick lunch at the school cafeteria. We then went to visit the Summer Palace. It was packed with people and we didn’t have a ton of time to spend there, but it was great to see. I remembered seeing images of the palace in a history class that I am currently taking in school so it was great to actually be there. We left the palace and had dinner, then headed back to our hotel.
